The driver was on 21 Street and Ben Franklin Parkway, and its way to the Old Town in the race of 26.2 miles an autumn morning. The public is in full force to follow-see around 20,000 runners through the historic streets of Philadelphia.
The event also serves as a qualifying race for the entry in the Boston Marathon for the participants over time to the standards brackets by age group to meet.

About 20,000 runners are participating in the 26.2-mile Philadelphia Marathon 2009 that kicked off at 7a.m EST. An additional 8,000 runners are registered for the half-marathon and more than 2,000 will run the 8K.
